You are invited to contribute to a survey on medicines shortages for the treatment of Hepatitis B&C, HIV, Tuberculosis and Opium Substitution Treatment in 2019. The deadline for contribution is 27 June 23:59 CET. The data collected will be used in a meeting with the European Commission with other civil society partners on 1 July 2019.
Purpose of the survey:
- To document medicines shortages in EU countries from the perspective of civil society working with affected communities.
- To support a request to the European Commission to investigate the factors leading to medicines shortages to increase understanding of the situation and possible solutions.
The survey is carried out by :
The Civil Society Forum on HIV, TB and Hep (CSF)
- an advisory body to the European Commission. The CSF facilitates the participation of NGOs in policydevelopment and implementation, as well as to support the exchange of information and best practices across countries and settings.
About medicines shortages:
Shortages of pharmaceuticals can affect the health of patients. They are due to different factors, including unavailability on the market despite registration; withdrawal of the medicine from the market; manufacturing difficulties; problems affecting the quality of medicines or a safety concern; parallel trade; lack of continuity within the supply chain of pharmaceuticals.
Your participation in this survey is completely voluntary. There are no foreseeable risks associated with this project. However, if you feel uncomfortable answering any questions, you can withdraw from the survey at any point. The data collected from the different countries will be reported to the European Commission in a summary. No person data will be shared with third parties.
Thank you very much for your time and support.
